This is the first initiative of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a charitable trust established in 1860 under the British Indian Societies Registration Act XXI.

The idea of establishing a cancer clinic came after his mother Ms. Shaukat Khanum was diagnosed with cancer in 1985. Even during his mother's illness, he saw the plight of poor cancer patients in Pakistani hospitals and felt the need for cancer treatment. . His vision was to make cancer treatment accessible to every Pakistani who needed it.
